STADIA PRECINCT PTY LTD

Our vision is to create a unique Tasmanian Community Precinct. That will be an example of modern design excellence and create a sense of pride for the people of Tasmania.

With a team of Industry Leaders, we aim to deliver an urban renewal project for all Tasmanians that will deliver significant cultural and community benefits beyond the economic and sporting aspirations of Tasmania’s AFL team. A new multi-purpose stadium with a retractable roof is at the heart of our project, our approach is to view this once-in- a-lifetime opportunity as an Urban Renewal Project, with a forward-thinking and broader focus on the way Tasmanians live, work, and play.

Questions and
Solutions

There are many other areas of concern and query, but in an open environment all these items will be solved. The finished product will be a precinct that will be a Multi-Purpose Entertainment Venue/Stadium owned by the people of Tasmania.

  • Additional carparking will form a part of the stadium construction. Initial traffic engineering has been carried out to ensure access to and from the precinct is easily blended to the current traffic infrastructure.

Macquarie Point is not impacted, and the precinct offers ample car parking for visitors, residents, event patrons, etc. all in an undercover and secure capacity.

  • The RSL and RHRA are recognised as key “stakeholders” and their input and continued association is vital to a harmonious future. Stadia precinct has received support from all parties.

  • The Stadium Development includes the minimal requirements of the AFL for a 23,000-seat stadium with a roof. It will be a multi-purpose stadium to be utilised for multiple sports and arts and large entertainment shows.

  • Tasmania is looking for a ’statement’

The position and the visibility the site presents give the design team the opportunity to deliver an iconic representation of Tasmania’s Beauty, Passion and Lifestyle in a statement that all Tasmanians will be proud of.

  • The project will utilise Tasmanian’s natural products wherever possible, via construction products, people, finishes etc. to ensure a Tasmanian flavour that gels with the marketing of the multi-purpose venue moving forward. The quality of the Precinct will deliver an event Calendar that compliments and grows the current tourism schedule that will bring many more visitors to our beautiful State.

  • NO.

The Stadium Precinct concept has been designed to maintain the working port and critically free up the Macquarie Point area for Community Based Projects for “affordable housing”, health and wellbeing projects and the vision that many Tasmanians have voiced over the previous six months. The vision and master planning required will set a new standard for community engagement on input and transparency.

  • Tasmanian Tourism has identified this need for a decade or more and the Stadium Precinct will deliver that space in its design. Recent examples in Australia with the Perth and Adelaide Oval developments show what can be achieved. Incorporating our team’s international experience will develop the opportunity further to allow events to proceed in Tasmania that had been previously unachievable.

The list of these events achievable are phenomenal and will be detailed in our design phase so that 2028 is not only the first Tasmanian AFL Game but the year of prominence of Tasmania as an Entertainment Destination.

  • Do we have the expertise required to build overwater?

The Stadium Precinct Consortium have marine engineers as a pivotal part of the team and the inclusion of AW Maritime, a leading Australian Maritime Consultant with experience in Tasmania, Victoria, NSW etc., is a clear example the depth of research the Consortia has undertaken prior to submitting our design to the Tasmanian Government. That team are supported by Hazell Bros. in the works required on the foreshore.

  • As above, the team has been engaged to undertake these studies. Based on our previous partner’s works and updated feedback, there is no impact that cannot be covered by the proper design and environmental protocols.
